She was listed "ELLA" on her tombstone, "ELLEY E." in the 1900 census, and "MARY E." in the marriage record.

Mrs. Stella Stiver, 76, wife of Edgar M. Stiver, died at 3 a.m. Sunday at their home south of Benton. She suffered a stroke of paralysis a week ago today.
The deceased, daughter of Henry and Susan Peoples, was born three miles south of New Paris on May 10, 1865. Her marriage took place September 19, 1889. She was a member of the Solomon's Creek United Brethren church.
Surviving are the husband, a daughter, Mrs. Lottie Kline, of Benton, two sons, Jay, of Lafayette and Harold, of near Millersburg, five grandchildren, a brother Simon Peoples, of Goshen, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Stump and Mrs. Edward Krutz, both of Elkhart.
The body will be taken from the Rohrer funeral home at 5 o'clock this afternoon to the Stiver home, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. C. W. Koeher will officiate. Burial will be made in Jackson cemetery.

Edgar M. Stiver, 82, died at his home in Benton Thursday evening at 9:15. He had suffered two strokes in the past three weeks.
He was born 2 1/2 miles east of Benton Sept. 16, 1863, the son of Eli and Sarah (McCann) Stiver. On Sept. 19, 1889 he married Ella Peoples who died July 20, 1941. They had lived on a farm near Benton until ten years ago when he retired and moved to his present home.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lottie Kline of Benton; two sons, Jay of Benton and Harold of Warsaw; five grandchildren; a brother, Charles of Millersburg; and a sister, Miss Arvilla Stiver also of Millersburg.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock in the Rohrer funeral chapel at New Paris. Burial will be in Jackson cemetery.

Harold E. Stiver, 75, 308 1/2 South Seventh Street, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday at Goshen General Hospital.
Mr. Stiver was born in Millersburg April 1, 1897, to Edgar and Mary (Peeples) Stiver. On June 15, 1929, he was married to Lillie Hoffer, who survives. He was employed by Pacific Car and Foundry, retiring six years ago.
Surviving with the widow are three stepdaughters, Mrs. Jimmie (Doris) Marchand, Gary, Mrs. Mabel Browley, Goshen, and Mrs. Sherman (Harriet) Coy, Warsaw; seven step grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Friends are being received at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, Goshen, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Henry Lowman and the Rev. Howard Lindley will officiate and burial will be in Solomon's Creek Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Elkhart County Cancer Society.
